Before you downvote me into oblivion, I know - These games are not full sims. I am looking for a good and fun game about the Superbike Championship since I find their schedule and race format more attractive than MotoGP's.
Milestone made Games from SBK 07 to SBK Generations in 2012, which one of those would you consider the best? And were they better than the mess they started with MotoGP 15? (MGP 13 and 14 were good, but then it went downhill) Not only graphics wise but also physics, general gameplay and AI behavior? Thanks for your help.
SBK Generations is the better bet as it wraps up all of the previous releases in one package. Shame we don't have a new WSBK game on PC or console; I guess the market grew bored of Milestone's never changing releases. Same goes for the MotoGP games which seemed to be a cut and paste job each year. At least the Monumental made games for the console had the team building element of Grid to keep one entertained and the 10/11 version was a better representation of the sport than most recent releases. If you really want the best Superbike game, SBK 2001 remains the best mainstream motorcycle sim since Microprose's GP500. Here is a video link: Milestone made it, EA pubished it and the level of polish and overall quality has yet to be matched by anything Milestone has since released. It looks old, has long since forgotten about riders, tracks and bikes but it also represents a time when WSBK was fantastic.
There used to be a modding community in which you could mod the bikes and tracks to better match the speeds of today's bikes 8) If you can find it, likely on eBay, then go for it. Shame GOG or someone similar doesn't sell a DRM free version as you need the code from the back of the CD case to install the game. Yep, that's the one:) It's a fantastic blend of sim and arcade; it's not going to win over the GP500 or GP-Bikes fans however for the normal end-user, SBK 2001 represents a high point for the series and for Milestone made games. A training mode, full commentary from Leigh Diffy (Aussies and Yanks may know the guy), decent physics and sounds, moddable and little extras such as riders who after the player has crashed (with motion catptured movements) and chase after the bike! It's little wonder SBK 2001 has a metacritic score of 88% • • • •.
